November 2000 : India

Isaiah 53:1 Begins, Who has believed our report?…, that is kind of how I feel when I try to explain the wonder of the grace of the Lord as He was revealing Himself alive and the same to the people of the Tenali region in India. My grandson Matthew and I traveled to this beautiful land November 5 and remained until 17 November. JohnPaul Pinapati founder and director of Trinity Evangelical Youth Organization hosted us. Tenali is a city of over 250,000 people, with over 200 villages surrounding it in a 50-km radius. JohnPaul is a man of great vision; he has a goal of planting 100 churches in 100 villages by the year 2004. I believe with a little help it will be accomplished. These people are already white for the harvesting. All that it takes is laborers to go into the field. Matthew and I were amazed at how the simple power of the Good News would bring the changes we were able to witness. We would go into a Hindu village with a couple of young men that worked with JohnPaul and set up on the street or in an open area and begin to announce with a sound system to the entire community, WE HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR EVERYONE. The pre-recorded music would be playing and the people would just begin to arrive. They would crowd into the street or open area and after a fairly large crowd gathered, the pastor or some other believer would begin singing praise to the living God. I then would begin to preach. Remember that these people have no reference to God as we know God They have over 3 million gods. They have no reference to the scriptures as being the Word of God. I was so overwhelmed with humility to stand in a place like this and speak of the wonderful love and mercy of the Almighty; to tell of the God who created all that is, and is yet holding all things together. And to announce that He desires all people to know Him in a personal way through His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. He loves people so much that through the power of the Holy Spirit He will minister to their needs immediately. Yes, Jesus proved Himself alive by many infallible proofs. He opened the eyes of the blind, unstopped the ears of the deaf, caused cancers to dissipate and aches and pains to be loosed from people. All people were included; no one was excluded from the love of the Father. Good News — Jesus is no respecter of persons — anyone who comes to Him finds that He will receive them. We witnessed His love as people heard of His love for them, we saw the expression in their eyes as they came out of darkness into His light. It did not make any difference what time of day it was. Whether we announced the Good News in the morning or in the night, the results of Good News is the same…Good Things. The joy of seeing so many turn to God from their idols was more than I could contain. Many times I would just begin to weep as we saw the multitudes respond to the presence of the Lord. Matthew said,”” there where a bazillion people saved.”” There would be a crowd packed around Matthew as he would lay hands on the sick. Everywhere you would turn there would be more people. These beautiful people are very religious and very sincere in their beliefs. They are just deceived and misled. But hearing the truth and turning to the truth they are transformed. Once deciding for Jesus their families put them off. The Indians are very tolerant of other religions but very intolerant of any sort of evangelism. In the villages where we went and proclaimed the Good News, we had to deal with Hindus who would set up their own sound system and combat the truth with the chanting of lies. Hey! Guess who wins out? We were preaching in the street one night and right in the middle of my message a Hindu woman came very quickly to the front with two of her friends or relatives. She was clutching close to her breast an infant. The child was crying uncontrollably and the woman was almost hysterical. She had heard the Good News over the sound system in her house that was a distance away. When she came and saw the crowd she did not hesitate but just proceeded right up to where I was. I turned to see the look of desperation on her face and I reached out and touched the baby. The baby was like it was on fire. At the touch of my hand the power of the Lord was present to heal. Immediately the child began to cool and a calm peace settled over her and the mother. All this right in front of the crowd. Isnt it great that God does things openly. The people were very encouraged as they heard more Good News. When the time came for them to respond it was incredible. We found out the next day that this woman had taken her child to the doctors but they said there was nothing they could do, and sent her away. I am so glad that Jesus will turn no one away. In a land that has over 3 million gods the truth is Jesus is above them all, and at His name all these that are named and some that are not must bow.

ELIJAH MINISTRIES is a great commission ministry. Our mission is to serve the Lord by sharing the unconditional love of the Father in real ways that allow people to experience the reality of the Fathers presence in their lives. We are determined to go back and help JohnPaul reach his goal of 100 churches in 100 villages. We will need your help. Your prayer support is absolutely essential. We need more finances. Travel is a continual expense to the ministry. More and more Elijah Ministries is being looked to for helping these ministries get established. We are presently helping support orphanages in Africa, India and Russia. We are providing finances to help keep pastors on the field in many out of the way places. I simply encourage you to consider planting a financial seed on a regular basis into Elijah Ministries. I promise you it will go towards the building of the kingdom of God and reaching of the world. You might say, What could I possibly do to help. For example, $55 will buy a bicycle that will enable a pastor to travel to several villages. $20 will enable a pastor and his entire family to live well for a month so as to concentrate on equipping new believers. Any amount will be used to help bring the light into the darkness. When they hear the Good News they respond. But how can they hear if no one tell them and how can the tellers tell unless they be sent. I am so thankful that there are people like you who are involved in this ministry. Together we are making a difference. Jesus said go into all the world, even the utter-most places. Our ministry is a kind of one of those utter-most place sort. Matthew and I saw no other white people in the Tenali area for 15 days. We were a peculiar people. We stuck out. The Lord reminded me that this is the way it should always be. I need to live my life in such a way that I stick out from the crowd and that His glory will be evident. May the Glory of the risen Lord be radiant upon you as you live for Him.
