February 2006 : INDIA

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus: I returned from India on 7 March 2006. I was awed by the over flowing wonder of the grace of God. From February 16 until February 26 I was with Pastor JohnPaul Pinapati in Tenali Andhra Predesh India. Rev. JohnPaul and I have been working together since the year 2000. In that time he has extended his ministry into the area that surrounds Tenali a city of 250,000. He mostly goes into the rural villages, many of which have never seen a white foreigner and have never heard the name Jesus Christ. He also has established an orphanage and supports and trains more than 40 widows. This year we traveled into several new villages and conducted open air gospel crusades. In these village crusades more than 200 people came to the Lord Jesus and began new life with Him. In the crusades we witnessed many receive their healing. JohnPaul also oversees 51 churches in the area many of which he planted. There was also a two day pastors conference where 49 pastors attended. During these two days the Spirit of the Lord was present and brought forth much revelation that will be applied to the lives and ministries of these wonderful servants of God. JohnPaul needs help. He is doing so much good in the area especially with the orphans and widows. In this area orphans are very destitute and living on the streets. JohnPaul brings them in and feeds, clothes them and provides for their education. I learned for the first time just how deplorable the situation is with widows in the area. Once a womans husband dies she is stripped of all rights. Her family forsakes her believing her to be cursed. If she has grown children they leave her on her own. If her children are small she must find a way to care for them. She is unable to work in any domestic service because families do not want her curse to come into their household. I was surprised to learn that within days of her losing her husband women from the community came and in a ritual fashion they remove external signs of her being married. They remove her bangles, gold chain from her neck and toe rings that indicate she is married. She is forbidden to wear any flowers in her hair or other forms that would enhance her beauty. She is prohibited from ever attending any wedding celebrations. She is entirely left on her own. This is where JohnPaul comes in and provides for them. I am making an appeal to you to help not only in prayer by financially to help support these orphans and widows. Giving through ELIJAH MINISTRIES will grant you a tax deductible contribution. I can assure you that what you give will go to this cause.
