BISHOP EFFIONG NOAH UDEOKANEM
THE DROUGHT IS OVER AKPARABONG-IKOM NIGERIA
It has been some time since I last contacted you and reported on the work of the ministry from the nations. This is Dr. Michael G. Maixner Overseer of ELIJAH MINISTRIES, Norwich, CT USA.
I returned from Nigeria West Africa on 21 February 2009. I was graciously hosted by Bishop Effiong Noah Udoekanem Overseer of African International Network. He is used of the Lord to bring many different denominations together in order to seek ways to expand the Kingdom of God into unreached rural villages in local regions of Nigeria and beyond. This was my first trip to Nigeria although I have traveled extensively in West Africa and parts of East Africa. I was invited to conduct a Leadership Seminar and an open air Crusade in the village of Akparabong-Ikom.
This village is an out of the way semi-rural village some 20 kilometers from Ikom. The hosting church was the African Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. We used their building for the Leadership Seminar for four days from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. These meetings brought out some 400 plus leaders 260 of which were pastors from different denominations. The Lord was very present in all these gatherings. From 2:15pm until 3:45pm I was asked to hold office hours to pray for the sick and troubled.
In the four days I received more than 100 people not one of them made requests for financial assistance. The people were believing the Lord was present to heal and very matter of fact about their needs. They reported fevers, aches and pains, blindness, deafness muteness, heart conditions and etc. I witnessed the power of the Lord move on their behalf through simple gospel truth of the kingdom of God. I assumed the word spread because the first night of the open air Crusade held on the Presbyterian School soccer field more than 2000 people attended. There was no seating, very little lighting on the field except for the 8-10 40watt light bulbs strung on bamboo poles. The Platform was a very simple rough cut plank platform about four feet off the ground. I was surprised at the size of the crowd. Where did they all come from was my thinking. Praise songs filled the air for about an hour then I preached a simple message of the gospel of the kingdom of God. When time came for ministry more than 400 ran to the altar and they all prayed to receive the Lord Jesus and were born again. The pastors that attended the seminar acted as altar counselors. In the following ministry time many notable miracles of healing were witnessed.
The second night more than 2,800 were in attendance and 400 came to be born again and more healings took place. The third night Saturday more than 4000 were present, Bishop Noah prophesied and then turned the meeting over to me. He instructed me to remove my scandal and extend my foot just over the edge of the platform and then he instructed the crowd to join hands together with one man in the front touching my foot. I must tell you I was a little embarrassed and humbled but in submission to him I responded. With a man holding my foot I called on the Lord to come in power and He flowed through me and the entire crowd with power. That night more than 500 people were born again and the healings continued. The last day in Akparabong; Sunday the morning meeting in the church building was crowded with more than 500 that many needed to stand outside and listen through the windows. The last night of the open air crusade we held an anointing service. Sunday is usually a smaller night due to the following day of work, school, etc. There were 1500 present as we started the meeting; I thought this was do-able. After the short simple message we began to line the people up in rows of two with walking space between the lines. I began with a young pastor walking backwards holding a dish with anointing oil. I placed both my hands in the dish and prayed and anointed children, men and women two at a time. God was so present.
In the midst of the anointing people were making calls on their mobile phones. The crowd grew to more than 3000. It took close to three hours to anoint and pray for all present. Praise the Lord. I was also blessed to preach to several schools many students were born again. I preached in a rural village church one evening with about 150 in attendance and more than 40 people were born again. Bishop Naoh wrote in his report that close to 1800 people were born again and many physical healings and deliverances. As always by God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit when the simple gospel of the kingdom of God is preached results in lives being transformed.
